User Reviews
Excellent GPS, reception is greater, able to find satellites with no issues and fast. Graphic to display direction on multi line roads really improved compare to the older models, Blue-tooth works fine. -- Good Product.
The GPS system kept shutting down during a 16 hour road trip, and it had only been used for about 20 hours. I really haven't used it since, but will watch to see if it needs to be returned. Great features, just question if it's a quality product. -- Garmin nuvi 1390
I just moved from south FL to Atlanta. I tried my friends before I bought and thought, well at least it gets you close. Boy Atlanta is a very difficult place to get around! But that's Atlanta's problem. No grid streets (NE, SW,, etc). If I didn't have this, I would probably be lost all the time. I like it because if you're in a strange area and decide to stop at a Publix or whatever, you just type in the name and it shows you the nearest one, then it takes you home! I do think Garmin could do a bit better on the language pronunciation, for example Dr., they say "doctor". Come on Garmin, you can do better than that! It also takes some time to accustom oneself to what it actually means and it's important to always watch the map and not just listen to the directions. On a major, 10 lane highway, it will tell you to stay left on 75, when 75 is acutally on the right part of the road. If you already know that, it's swell, if not, you end up possibly exiting and turning around. I would buy another one if I lost it. This one is a medium to high-end. I also like the pedestrian function once I park the car and have to walk it takes you there. Getting used to what it does and how takes time. It's not perfect, but close and I think Garmin could make many improvements and there is no excuse for why they don't. Any higher end and it's just a waste of money. -- Garmin Gets Me Where I Need to GO
Maps are not up to date even though I downloaded an update within the free period. I also used the points of interest feature to attempt to locate an non-chain/non-fast food restaurant and was led on a wild goose chase, twice. -- Garmin nuvi 1390T
First let me say that GPS is a wonderful tool and I don't know how I've gone this long without one. The frustrating thing about this device, and I don't know if it's true of all Garmin's, is the choice of routes. It often chooses the shortest route over the best route. For example, I was in Los Angeles and needed to go north toward Sacramento. Instead of sending me to the nearest freeway which was 1/2 mile away, Garmin sent me 5 miles up a seedy looking city street in busy stop and go traffic. I guess maybe I saved a mile or two but probably added 10-15 minutes to my trip and put me in less safe circumstances. On other occasions it's advised me to take a detour to avoid heavy traffic. Unfortunately the device doesn't know the traffic conditions for the route it's detouring me to. Several times I've been caught in a worse jam. -- Maybe the shortest route but not the best route
